About BMU
Built for bait makers — and the anglers who believe in them.
Hey — I’m Tyler.
Founder of Bait Makers UnitedI’m a mechanical engineering student at Iowa State University, and I’ve always been obsessed with building things — businesses, products, and ideas that bring people together.
BMU exists for one reason: bait makers deserve a platform that actually helps them grow. Not just a list of names — a community, a spotlight, and a place anglers can trust to discover the real ones.
I know the grind.
Making baits isn’t “easy side hustle” work — it’s real craftsmanship.
I’ve been in it — the late nights, the trial-and-error, the batches that don’t come out right, the small wins that keep you going. I respect how much effort goes into every pour, every paint job, every package that gets shipped.
That’s why BMU isn’t here to “rate” bait makers — it’s here to support them. I want to help you get your name out there, earn trust faster, and get discovered by anglers who are already searching for what you make.
I’m an angler first.
Fishing is the reason I care so much about this space.
I love chasing big fish, learning new water, and dialing in what actually works. My long-term goal is to save up for a boat — not just to fish more, but to create content and tell stories that bring attention to the bait makers who deserve it.
I also run a YouTube channel: @betweencasts. That’s where a lot of this vision started — the idea that the best part of fishing isn’t just the catch… it’s the people behind the scenes making it happen.
What BMU becomes next.
Not just a directory — a spotlight across the entire country.
One of my biggest goals is to travel and interview bait makers around the U.S. I want to hear your story — how you started, what makes your baits different, and what you’ve learned building something from nothing.
BMU is a directory today, but the vision is bigger: features, interviews, behind-the-scenes shop visits, and real community.
